Because we are celebrating our country’s birthday this week, we are having our next field trip to a place where California had its beginnings. James W. Marshall struck gold in 1848 and many came from all over hopeful of finding gold as well.
During our visit we will be learning about how gold was panned and mined. There are also remnants of the Native American Tribe called the Nisenan. In the town of Coloma there are still many historic buildings on site to explore as well as a museum.
We will be enjoying our sack lunch under some beautiful oak trees in the picnic area
